New Banners and Wordpress 2.0.4

Hey all! I’ve got some new banners for you to steal.

There is a great new website for WordPress Themes.
click here for the Theme Viewer

If you sort by Rating you can find some really cool templates. I made a couple of banners to insert into any of your blogs, they can be used with almost any theme but are designed to fit the Misty Look theme.

(click the image below, then right click the image on the next page to save to your computer, choose “Save Picture As” from the dropdown)

News!

Hi all you crochet girls and guys.

We know, an update is long overdue…

Both of us took on some huge projects this year and could not handle the amount of requests for free crochet blogs. On top of that, spammers and other nasty internet people found blogs to be a great way to attack the public and we had some tough times updating everyones blogs to be more secure.

That being said, hopefully we can take this website to another level and join all the crochet blogs together in a kind-of “whats cool with crochet” blog of blogs.

Please let us know if there is anything you think is missing in crochet blog land, and we will try to make that happen!!

~missa and kim

And! please click the links to the mycrochetblog.com crochet blogs (on the right hand menu), these crocheters all have some great projects for you to look at!

Delay!

Due to OVERWHELMING requests for new crochet blogs there will be a 10 to 14 day delay in setting up your new crochet blog.

For those who have requested blogs in the last two weeks, sorry!
We are working hard to get them all set up, all 24 of them, eek!

Thanks so much for your interest in this new community!
~missa

Storage Space on Free Crochet Blogs

When you adopt a free crochet blog it comes with 5MB of storage on our server. This means you don’t need to use a third-party image host; you can just upload the photos to your blog through FTP or through the handy “Upload” function in WordPress!

Another option if you want full control over uploading multiple images and deleting images is our fileman feature.

With fileman you can:
-upload multiple images
-delete images
-view images and get the URL for the image

More on How to Get a mycrochetblog.com Blog

In our excitement to launch mycrochetblog.com, it would seem we left some details a little hazy. Here’s a bit of clarification:

New blogs will come up for adoption as they’re ready. Due to the time and effort involved with designing and configuring them, we will not be able to accept requests ahead of time. As time passes we’ll get a better feel for how frequently adoptable blogs will become available.

There’s another option, though, for those of you who are eager to start right away and don’t want to wait for Missa’s fab creations. You can request a “default” blog that is not specially designed for adoption, and that does not include custom banners/buttons (but that does still display our ads in the sidebar). In this case, you can choose the name of your subdomain and configure your blog in any way you choose. WordPress conveniently comes with a tidy and attractive default template, so you’d be good to go ASAP.

So, for now, it’s a factor of priorities. If you want to start blogging right away but don’t love any of the blogs currently up for adoption, you can request a default blog. If you want a gorgeous, professionally-designed blog, then you can haunt the site until the perfect one comes up for adoption. In any case, we’ll be posting many more tips for using WordPress, and we hope you’ll stick with us as we grow and stumble upon bigger and better ways of providing these services.

Keep your eye on this site for more information, and for the announcement of our way affordable no-ads blog program.

How Do I “Adopt” a Blog?

    EASY!

We have setup subdomains (which are URL’s that are hosted on mycrochetblog.com) with WordPress installed.

This makes it easy for you to get started because everything has been setup for you already. No waiting for installation, you don’t have to find a cool template, and you get a banner and button too!

We will have blog setups available for purchase at a later date.
If you want a custom look or want to try it out on your own, we will help you setup the blog and guide you through your first post.
